Our 2021 annual report is ready. HAUKARI e.V., as the holder of the DZI seal of approval (since 2004), is obliged to publish an annual report on the organisation’s work and finances. The annual report offers all interested parties the opportunity to obtain comprehensive information about our projects. At the same time, it is also a good opportunity for us to reflect on what we do and look beyond our day-to-day work. The fact that we are sending out our 2021 annual report with a long delay is primarily due to our inability to comprehend and speak in the face of the war and crises in our neighbourhood and around the world. We have tried to formulate the many questions that concern us now in February 2023 in a foreword:
How can we actively oppose the Russian war of aggression without catering to strengthening nationalist and militarist tendencies, patriarchal hero myths, armament logic and anti-Russian narratives?
How can we show solidarity with the people in Ukraine and Ukrainian refugees while remaining true to our conviction that armament and arms deliveries do not create peace and that there is no alternative to political and negotiated solutions?
And how can we keep an eye on other conflicts in the world in the midst of a military confrontation in our neighbourhood and counter Eurocentric and racist prioritisations and hierarchical categorisations of suffering, conflicts and refugees?
