On 19 April 2021, the victims of the Anfal operations of the Iraqi army against the Kurdish population were commemorated in Sarqala, Diyala province, Kurdistan/Iraq. At the commemorative event to mark the 33rd anniversary, Anfal surviving women were honoured for their commitment.
A memorial in memory of the victims was also unveiled at the site of the event.
