For 30 years, HAUKARI e.V. has been working in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq and in Iraq against violence against women, for gender equality, for the social and political participation of young people and artists and for dialogue between the various ethnic, religious and political factions in Iraq.

HAUKARI e.V. combines project work and research and is committed to dismantling hierarchies in development cooperation and to international aid that combines acute crisis aid with the long-term strengthening of local government and civil society structures and focuses its support beyond cyclical crisis management on the needs and perspectives of local actors.

HAUKARI e.V. is involved in the development of international networks against nationalism and fundamentalism and in favour of social and gender justice – in Europe and in the Global South.
